About The Captain... Captain David Stamatis is a licensed Captain with the United States Coast Guard - Reference N0. 3006779.  He has spent his entire life fishing the waters of Cape Cod Bay, Massachusetts Bay and beyond. His experience spans over 4 decades and his family ancestry is rooted in the quaint Town of Wellfleet Massachusetts, where he is a year round resident. His familiarity with the waters in and around Wellfleet Harbor and Cape Cod Bay present a unique opportunity for his guests to learn how to successfully harvest game fish and bottom fish in this region,"it all boils down to local knowledge." He is a member of the Northeast Charterboat Captain's Association, the National Association of Charterboat Operators, Sustainable Cape, Massachusetts Lobstermen's Association, Wellfleet Chamber of Commerce, Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, Wellfleet Marine Advisory Committe, he is certified in First Aid and CPR and a member of the Maritime Consortium drug free vessel program. Captain Dave owns and operates a federally documented commercial fishing vessel out of Wellfeet Harbor: a 29' Webbers Cove Lobster Boat ("D-Tails"). This vessels is inspected and certified annually by the United States Coast Guard for safety and equipment. All trips offered by Billingsgate Charters are limited to 6 fishermen on board "D-Tails". The Captain insists on providing his guests with the best fishing experience possible by ensuring space, comfort and safety. He knows the importance of bottom time and wants his guests to take advantage of as much fishing time as possiblewith every charter. Captain Dave is also a Commercial Lobster Fisherman.  He is licensed to fish 800 lobster pots in Cape Cod Bay.  He provides fresh lobsters to local dealers, fish markets, the Truro Farmer's Market, Brewster Farmer's Market, local residents, vacationers visiting the Cape and restaurants on and off the Cape. He offers a unique opportunity to experience what it takes to live a day in the life of a lobsterman.  He will bring up to 6 passengers on board the Webbers Cove vessel "D-Tails" to visit his lobster pots where guests will return to port with a new found appreciation for what it takes to be a lobsterman in New England and partake in a true Cape Cod Experience!
